Sorry for the break in the story (if anyone was following it) but it’s Halloween. How can I not zombify someone. In this case… me. Sorry for the break in the story (if anyone was following it) but it’s Halloween. How can I not zombify someone. In this case… me. I figured it was only fair, seeing as I zombified John, and will probably zombify other friends, given enough time.

I think I may actually throw up the non-zombified version of this on Monday just to show how radically different it is without the shading and blood.

I’m not quite sure why my subconscious keeps wanting to make my zombies look mentally retarded, because consciously I don’t think of zombies that way*, I think of them more as simplistic predators. Like imagine you gave the instincts, and jaws of a shark to a turtle. Basically, you get a short zombie in a hard hat. Hungry, deadly, and yet, really easy to escape…. I should totally draw a zombie turtle.

* In this case i happen to look like an idiot in the source material too, so maybe that’s part of it.

I had so much fun with yesterday’s zombie I figured I’d do another one. So, I zombified John. And no, for those who are curious, he doesn’t normally look like he has an IQ of 40. I took some liberties with his facial structure, mouth, and eyes. When I was done he looked like such a stupid, and clueless, zombie than any sense of horror had totally left the building. So I added in the bad pun of a sign just for the hell of it.

Side note: these zombie ones take a long time!

I was going to draw a kind of silly zombie thing that John and I had mentioned this afternoon, but then, in a search for source material I came across this awesome photo and I simply couldn’t resist.

In other news I’ve been searching for something affordable I could do on / for a vacation, and I think I have an idea. It involves staying home, which generally isn’t very vacationey for me, but it does make it affordable, and I think the way I’d spend my time would be sufficiently distant (mentally) from work related activities to be good, although I really would prefer to do it, or whatever I end up doing, somewhere else.

The getting out of the same physical space I inhabit every day really helps me to get away mentally too.
