So, er, yeah. A breast.

I was in the bathroom, naked, with my phone. I’m not sure how exactly this happened but it did. I assure you I do very little naked telephoning. Typically this is owing to a combination of two facts: 1) I’m clothed almost all my waking hours. 2) No-one calls me. Come to think of it, I don’t do anything naked that involves other humans. This is not by choice.

So, for whatever reason I was there, the light was on, and my boob was staring at me with a nice curly strand of hair. “Hmm,” I thought, “that might make a decent drawing.” I’m not convinced that the results were worth baring myself to you but it was definitely more interesting, to me, than the gothic old church I was going to draw. To be honest, I don’t like the results at all, but it’s 10 ’till midnight so that’s what we’re left with.  Sorry. I’ll try to do better the next time.

Quick post tonight.

I woke up a little before 4 AM today for no apparent reason, started hacking. Went to work, hunted bugs, came home and whipped the Firefox Extension version of the new password manager into shape (still needs beautification before release but it works). I’m having fun. Is good.

I’m really tired and didn’t know what to draw for you tonight, and it shows in the results. :( Alas. I was so wrapped up in working on the plugin that I forgot I still needed to do a drawing.

Some days are better than others. Like yesterday. Yesterday, was a good drawing day. Go look at that one and pretend this one isn’t here. ;)

I don’t know why, but the gods shined down upon me today. I took my mac in to IT for the swap (hardware and software issues) and for reasons I shan’t question, gave me a MacBook Pro. The thing is freaking awesome. I am crossing my fingers that I actually get a tax return this year so I can get one for myself.

Now, having found my proof of insurance, I’m off to finish my taxes. They owe me money, the question is do I owe them more from past years than they owe me for 08.  I may have actually payed off all my past tax debt (it was over 10k (don’t ask)), which would be awesome in so many ways.

Another landscape for Diane. Alas, I’m not too thrilled with this one…

In other news: John has brought it to my attention that Jim Munroe’s Awesome comic Therefore Repent is now available as a free PDF download. He’s hoping you’ll like his work so much you’ll buy his upcoming one, which you probably should.

Also, he linked me to the awesome new video for Royksopp’s latest single Happy Up Here, which I love but is, sadly, essentially unbuyable in the U.S. (or was a few weeks ago). Being a musician, I really dislike pirating music, but in this case I simply had no option for legally buying it, and I really looked. Anyway, here’s the video.

Today, Miller (a.k.a Cobie) showed me the turtle themed T-Shirts he’s been working on, and they’re so cool I actually bought one, and would like to suggest that if you like cute turtles, you should too.

It’s also why I’ve added the ad above, for his turtley goodness, to my sidebars. So, click it, and take a look. He’ll not get rich by sales of these, but every one that gets bought puts another smile on his face.

I was going to draw a turtle tonight in honor of Miller’s turtley endeavors but, while I love his cute turtles, I’m really not that into turtles per-se. I’m more a dog person/cat/ferret* person. Fortunately, while looking for pictures of turtles I came across this piece of awesome .

In other news. I just put up a bounty for a Firefox Extension I want written. So, if you have any experience with writing those, or know someone who does, please take a moment to check it out.

* there’s an asterisk by the “ferret” because I’ve never had a ferret as a pet but I want a ferret, and I suspect I’ll enjoy it muchly. This weekend I was pondering writing the local ferret rescue (sad that there’s actually a need for such an organization) and saying “I’m in no rush, but if you happen to get a ferret that gets along with dogs and cats, give me a holler…” I’m thinking it would be much better to go that route, especially as a ferretty newb than to risk getting one who happens to hate either, or both. Especially since my cat will probably be anti-ferret since she’s anti-anything, but me. Not that she’d hurt it, but she’d probably hiss and whack it with her clawless paw if it tried to sniff her. And then the ferret would go all ninja on her with it’s ginormous ferrety teeth and confirm in her mind that yes, ferrets are the devil and must be hissed at given a large radius from that moment forwards.

Speaking of ninjas. If you happen to know Miller. Poke him to make us some of his cute ninja stars (no, not the weapons) on t-shirts.

I keep accidentally watching Star Wars: Clone Wars the series, which is ok(ish) but I’d never seen the movie. I finally gave in, called Dachary over for a night of potential misery, and pasta and watched it. I found that it lived up to all of its derisive reviews, but was my improved by ad-libbing extra lines into Obi-Wan’s dialogue. The writing was bad, the plot was horrible, and riddled with holes. But, my favorite part was the mardi-gras style drag queen Hutt Zero. I think they decided to make it a girl and never bothered to change the script. I can’t wait to listen to the director’s commentary on this thing. He’ll either be honest and talking about how it was that it came out so badly, or he’ll be talking from four feet up Lucas’ ass. 

Bad movies are always much better with friends.

In the movie we were looking at the clock and wondering how effing long it was because it felt like it had been at least two hours and there was still more to go. Turns out it was only 98 minutes of pain. That works out to roughly 30 minutes of bad plot, 40 minutes of implausible fight scenes, 20 minutes of utter bewilderment, and 8 minutes of credits.  I think the series is notably better because it’s 8 minutes of story 7 minutes of fight scenes 5 minutes of  cheesy plot devices based on idiotic enemies, and 10 minutes of ads which you can fast-forward through.

It was ultimately two episodes, unrelated by anything but the characters. The plot being “Hey, there was a kidnapping that would be advantageous to our war effort to help with, but instead of exploring that plot, let’s go to an unrelated battle and introduce Anakin to his Padawan. Oh, that’s done? Well uhh… oh yeah, kidnapping! Send the characters off to do that.”

In other news: while most of my drawings take me about 30 minutes tops. This one took an hour, and I’m not even happy with it. It’s just so many layers and so much more work than quick line drawings. This particular style isn’t the easiest with Lineform. It’s much better suited to the type of stuff I usually do.

The character’s name, if you hadn’t guessed is Ahsoka. She’s Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan and for half the movie is giving him looks like she’s desperately in love with him even though I suspect that wasn’t even remotely intended. In the movie she acquires the nickname “snips” for absolutely no reason. Anakin just starts calling her by it and no-one ever asks why. I must admit though, I’m fascinated with her head-tails.

This one, I like. The last two were too… posed. This one, this is just about having fun. As with the last two, this is for possible use in a flier for Aspire.

Even though there’s a lot more to this one, I think it went much faster than the last two. I think it’s mostly due to the subject matter. She was just having so much fun I couldn’t help but have fun while drawing her.

I just can’t decide if I like the colored one, or the plain black and white one better.

Truth be told, this took about as long as most of them. Sometimes it really is much harder to convey what you’re trying to say with fewer words, or lines.

Sunday was Yule so I spent this weekend over with Tammy and Co. It was good. It was very… family. It feels like I spent about half the time asleep on the couch while Tammy played video games. :)

At some point this morning/afternoon I was reclining back on the couch and Bandido was squished beside me with his head across my thigh, looking all cute. Sunday evening Gabriel (now 8 months old) fell asleep in my lap as we watched TV. It topped the prior ‘dido cuteness. ;)

This week is pure vacation for me. My plans consist of five things:

1. relax
2. clean the house (one room per day I think)
3. relax
4. finish up one of my android apps
5. relax

1, 3, and 5 may combine to thwart 4, but I should make some progress there no matter what.
