This is beautiful and I feel so honoured to have been drawn by you twice now! I love it.

It really is hard to be gay and try and find someone. I feel the same way - there are so many wonderful girls that I've talked to and felt I never had a chance with them. It's not like we walk around with flashing signs over our heads that blink "I'M GAY!" so unless you start getting to know people it really is difficult. And even then it's hard. I don't want to offend anyone or make them feel weird, I mean how do you ask someone out when you're not sure if they swing that way? It's even worse that I live in the Bible belt. I'm starting to think there no gays at ALL in Oklahoma. :(

Even for straight people, the question isn’t necessarily easy – gender is not the only axis among which sexual proclivities can vary wildly… Anyone who falls too far from the median is going to have this problem.

Dating sites… I don’t know, the idea of window shopping for an intimate relationship is just kind of self-contradictory to my mind. The approach works when you’re looking for uncomplicated sex, but for intimacy it seems to me one needs mutual experiences with each that happen without preconceived notions of a purpose: an unbidden “wow, I really fancy that person” after the fact as opposed to an inquisitory “hm, is that a person I fancy?” beforehand.

I’m surprised that Boston has no lesbian bar, btw. Isn’t it true what I’ve been told that Boston and the general MA area is a kind of US Sappho Central? (Heck, there’s even a lesbian couple of swans in Boston’s Public Garden park…)

(Good to know, btw, that I’m not the only one who utterly detests drunks…)

[...] This image* kind of evoked a little of the feeling that’s been wandering around the back of my head. Borne of loneliness I think. It’s not that I’m sad, or depressed, just… missing those intimate touches. [...]
