I came across this post on Loobylu this afternoon. Where she referenced an interesting meme that someone she knew had started. The idea is simple:

“Draw a ten panel comic about what you were doing ten years ago. Put pen straight to paper - no pencil, no computer, no planning, no starting again if you make a mistake. Simply draw, scan, publish. Tag some people who you’d like to see do the meme too. Oh and if you want to do it even if you haven’t been tagged you are most welcome!”

It sounded like a great idea, and I didn’t mind bending the rules and doing it with the tablet, since i don’t have a scanner to scan anything I draw physically. But, the process turned out to be rather disturbing for me.

I was talking to a friend about it. I told her that after a while the past all starts to blur together for me. The edges become fuzzy and indistinct. Part of it is because it’s been seventeen years since I’ve participated in anything that was tied to a particular year (high school). And for about a decade after high school I ran my own business, or worked at places I have removed from my resume, because I hate getting calls for html monkey positions, and pre-press experience is irrelevant to what I do now.

So while I’d love to do what Claire did and relate to you some interesting tale from ten years ago, but honestly, I don’t know what year most of my tales took place in, and I especially don’t know which of them was from ten years ago…
