noqontrol
This is not the drawing I meant to draw. I was feeling… mischievous, and playful. I saw the original and thought, “Oh, I can have fun with that.” Tattoos, like a evily twisted maori, and horns, elongate the chin into a flesh goatee.
It was the eyes that did me in. The more I worked on it the more … him it became. The embellishments just looked like they didn’t belong. And the eyes… there was no mischief in those eyes, not then at least. To me those eyes speak of hard-earned experience. And the lines in his face… it just wasn’t right to play with that.
I don’t know anything about noqontrol other than what comes through his photostream: curious, interesting, overtly commercial, self portraits, objects…all of it consummately professional.
I hope I was able to do his likeness justice. I’m undecided about the outcome of this drawing.
