Sexy
I don’t think like_shipwrecks realizes just how many aspects of a perfect sexy photo she hit with this one. I tried to do it justice but, sadly, fell short.
The original though:
- Finger pressing into skin, simulating lustful grab.
- Finger slipping under edge of underwear, hinting that maybe they’re about to be pulled down, or maybe she has more personal plans for that finger…
- Legs crossed, teasing denial and / or restraint of her own desire
- A small rip / hole in the underwear, hinting at past passions where clothes couldn’t come off fast enough.
- Pulling on the hip strings of the underwear as a result of frustrated desire.
- Subtlety in all of these
- And the best touch: innocence. I would guess from reading her posts that deep down inside she has no idea just how beautiful she is.
Honestly, I think she was probably just going through a series of poses trying to find something interesting for her daily self-portrait, and the hole in the underwear looks like it’s probably part of their design. And, if she was intentionally trying to make a photo with all these stops, and slightly more dramatic lighting, I think the end result would have been absolutely devastating (as opposed to the fake looking crap most porn photographers come up with when they try).
As it is, it’s a nice pic., and the only reason I noticed all those details is that I was staring at it the whole time I drew it. The reason I take the trouble to point these aspects out is that I’m frustrated by the fact that we live in a society that thinks “sexy” is something that should be delivered with the blunt-force trauma of a baseball bat. Jesus, I don’t want to see you standing there naked with all your bits exposed. There’s no possibilities in that. It’s all “Show’s over. Nothing more to see.”
It’s like a good horror: blood and gore may shock you, but they’re nothing compared to the subtle terrors your subconscious can come up with. Look at Lovecraft. That man’s writing is scary as all get-out, because he lets your imagination fill in the gaps.
Sexy is exactly the same. No human body, entirely exposed, is as sexy as one that leaves pieces to the viewers imagination. One of the greatest things about using your mouth during sex is that you can only see this little piece of the person: face, breast, thigh… Your imagination has to fill in the rest. When you’re down between their legs you have to listen to their breath, their moans, feel the subtle shift of their thighs against your cheekbones; bits and pieces of the puzzle…
How boring would sex be if we could do it from four feet apart? Sure it might be an interesting experiment, but you’d never want that to be the norm, because it’d be so: “yup. There (s)he is. Naked… Over there.”
Maybe it’s me, but I like the tease.
As for the drawing, I learned a lot about subtlety, but I’m just not pleased with the results. The only thing I’m particularly happy about in this is the belly-button ring, and belly button.
[Note for like_shipwrecks: Please know that I'm not going all stalker for you. You take some great pics, which spark thoughts in my brain, and I enjoy your posts, which do the same, but that's the extent of it.
Of course, as others already pointed out, this is a sexy pic, and it's probably safe to say you had a good idea of what you were creating when you shot it.

[...] It took me a while, but I think I found an image that wonderfully straddles that line. I think I may have actually done a decent job of capturing it. I certainly did a better job than my last attempt. [...]
