Compensating for my stupidity
I’ve known for a while now that I needed riding pants with armor. After some research I came to the conclusion that no-one comes close to the protection offered by the people at Cycle Port. They’re pricey but my main concern is safety, which I’ve obviously been neglecting. And, for the extra pennies I not only get the best protection available (check out the tri-armor they build in) but they also custom sew it to your measurements. I’d really prefer to just get a one piece suit but those are $1,000. Since I’d need to replace my jacket anyway it’s not so much a monetary savings issue as an issue of how long until I’ll allow myself to ride again, since I’ve decided I won’t go out on the road again without some armor for my lower half. Maybe I’ll just wait a bit more and go for the one piece. I’m still of two minds.
I considered getting a decent but not spectacular one piece but decided I’d rather be safe than cheap.
My next safety investment will be to upgrade my ride to a Piaggio MP3. But that can, fortunately, be financed.
